Andrea Locatelli

Following a debut racing season in 2012 that saw him take a national Championship, Italian rider Andrea Locatelli was destined to make a name for himself from just 16 years of age. A Yamaha WorldSBK rider since 2021, “Loka” enters 2024 with Crescent ready to prove his mettle and fight at the top.

In 2013, Locatelli made his presence known on the world stage within the Grand Prix paddock, making occasional Moto3 appearances before earning a full-time seat in the class for 2014. A season of learning and racecraft development preceded regular point-scoring, before his breakthrough in 2016 when he scored two podiums on the way to finish ninth in the standings.

2017 saw Locatelli graduate to the highly contested Moto2 class, scoring his first points the same year and continuing to fight for points in 2018 and 2019.

A change of series beckoned, and in 2020 the Italian made the switch to the FIM Supersport World Championship on the Yamaha R6. Loka’s rookie performance in 2020 was nothing short of utter dominance. With 12 wins from 15 races, including nine in a row from the first race, he also took seven pole positions and scored 333 points: a record-breaking season. His near-perfect year ensured he wrapped up the title with two rounds to spare in Barcelona.

In 2021, Locatelli graduated to the FIM Superbike World Championship, signing with Crescent and Yamaha. An excellent maiden season brought Loka and the team four podiums in the extremely hard-fought premier class, his consistency and speed earning him Rookie of the Year and providing valuable points for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ titles.

Loka added another two podiums in 2022, with a first front row start another highlight of his season where he ultimately earned fifth in the final standings.

2023 was far and away Locatelli’s best season to date in WorldSBK, scoring a podium at the first round and adding seven more to his tally across the year. Though a maiden win escaped him that year, Loka’s results were crucial to Crescent and Yamaha securing a consecutive and definitive second place in the Teams’ and Manufactures’ Championships.

Continuing to ride with Crescent and Pata Prometeon Yamaha in 2024 for the fourth season, Loka is a much-loved member of the team with enormous potential whose maiden win is coming closer.
