Spanish rider Beatriz Neila completed the inaugural test for the historical new FIM Women’s World Circuit Racing Championship in fourth place overall at Cremona Circuit in Italy today.
The 22-year-old law student from Madrid had her first appearance for the Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha team as part of the 23-strong championship field present across the two-day test. Inclement weather restricted running yesterday, but gave all the women a chance to unveil and get familiar with their Yamaha R7 race machines.
Today presented a better opportunity to get more acquainted on track, with warm and sunny weather in the Lombardy region – and, with two-time FIM Supersport World Champion and Jonathan Rea Crew Chief Andrew Pitt on hand to provide invaluable technical set-up and riding support from the Pata Prometeon Yamaha WorldSBK crew.
The WorldWCR officially gets underway with Round 1 of the first motorcycle World Championship exclusively for women at Misano World Circuit next month from 14-16 June.

“In general, the test was very good, I have to improve some things, but I know what I have to do to improve! Today was a great day with Andrew, he is amazing and super experienced both as a rider and crew chief, and also a super talented person! I’m so happy to be part of the Pata Prometeon team because everybody wants to be the best and I will also do my best this season! On top of this, to be supported by Ampito is for me an honour… to give me this opportunity with the team and trust in me, it is an incredible feeling!”

“It was a pretty positive day after a wet first day in Cremona – this morning the target was to get Beatriz comfortable on the bike and to do that, she needed to stay out and do as many laps as possible in the dry. My initial aim was to make sure that the bike was roughly in the set-up window, tyre pressures OK and balance, suspension where it needed to be – just get her comfortable with the handle bar position as it’s a different set-up to her Spanish R7 Cup bike, then she did the rest! Beatriz made really good progress, she was happy at the end and she went faster than she expected to even when it got hotter in the afternoon. She rode a lot on her own, but it was a positive day and we spoke about some areas to improve. It was a shame she couldn’t stay for the “time attack” – a chance to use new tyres in the last session of the day as the track cooled down – but when she stopped, she was P3 for the day so that was quite a good position and improvement over yesterday. Thank you to the Evan Bros Team and Nicholas Giusti who was helping as Beatriz’ technician for this first test alongside her father – it was great to see Beatriz happy with her progress and we’re looking forward to the start of the championship in Misano!”
